Image quality: I know 2x teleconverters magnify any lens imperfections, but I have been very happy with the sharpness of the Sigma 70-200 even on extremely tight crops and pixel-peeping. I feel like I should not be too concerned about the effect of image quality when using the 2x III.

I recently picked up a used Canon 1.4x III extender. Works as expected on my 90D and my R5 (adapted) with supported Canon lenses. When I attach my Tamron 100-400 to either camera with the 1.4 extender in place the camera reports a Tamron 100-400 but says that a 2x extender is attached!
May 8, 2018 3 I recently got a hold of the Canon 2x Extender Version III. I primarily got it to pair with a Canon 70-200 f2.8 MkII to take it up to 400 mm, but I was interested in seeing how it worked with the Sigma. The following 2 images were taken on a tripod, about 50 yards out from an Osprey at rest in full sunlight.
